NC Valley 11u Garcia went 5-1 on the weekend to win the Super NIT select 30 championship.  Valley won 5 games, 5-1, 13-3, 13-3, 9-6, and 14-4. Our lone loss came at the hand of  one of the top Northern California teams, Blacksox Nation 5-1.  Mondays championship round started a little shaky for valley.  Norcal eastbay jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the 1st inning.  Valley answered back with 3 in the bottom.  Valley took control in the bottom of the 3rd inning with 3 runs.  Norcal eastbay tied the game in the top of the 5th inning 6-6, again, Valley answered back and ended the game with 3 runs in the bottom of the 5th before time ran out.  Adam Stockman lead the charge going 3-3 with 3 runs.  Jmarion Bella went 2-3 with 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored. Jordan Harlan went 2-2 with a double and 1 run scored.  Landon Schutte threw 4 innings and had 8 punch outs, gave up 3 runs on 4 hits.

 

The Championship game was now set with a rematch with Blacksox Nation. Valley jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the 1st inning and never looked back.  Valley took advantage of some Blacksox mistakes and pulled away for a 14-4 win.  Valley had some amazing defensive plays.  Diving catches in the outfield by Bella, great infield play by Jordan Haver.  Alberto Salazar got the start on the bump and threw 4 innings giving up 3 hits, 2 runs with 3  punch outs and 2 walks. It was a complete team effort in the victory vs the nation.

 

Alberto Salazar was named the tourney MVP for Valley.  Berto threw 9.1 innings, only gave up 5 hits, 3 runs with 7 Ks and only 2 walks for the weekend.
